- Take a Stand for Teachers
The South African Council for Educators (SACE) a teaching profession regulatory body will on the 5th of October 2012 join the International community in celebrating World teacher’s Day. This event has been celebrated since 1994 and it has given an opportunity for Education International and its member organisations to celebrate the profession and promote its standards. Last year’s theme was “Teachers for Gender Equality”. The theme for this years’ celebration is “Take a Stand for Teachers”. It is through this that SACE is making the humble call to all our communities to take a stand for our teachers (past and present) and pay tribute to them for their immense contribution to the development of our society. The nations of the world must join hands in appreciating the selfless contributions made by these unsung champions, who whilst sometimes working under trying and difficult conditions they still soldiered on. Educators are also urged to celebrate this significant day in their respective localities, (viz. regions and provinces) in marking this day. We are making a clarion call to the Parents, Learners and the broader society to also engage in activities that celebrate the outstanding contribution that our Teachers make in the lives of our learners in particular. This year's celebration will be incorporating also the opening of the new SACE offices. The new offices are situated at 240 Lenchen Avenue, Centurion, Pretoria. |
