SACE CEO DEVASTED BY FATAL SHOOTING OF DEPUTY PRINCIPAL

Date : 2022-01-23 15:58:14

The South African Council for Educators (SACE) is saddened by the shooting and untimely death of a Geography teacher in Phomolong High School, as reported yesterday. Sadly, this shooting happened at a time when Council was celebrating the remarkable contribution of educators in the performance of learners, following the release of the matric results.

Our educators are our valued national builders and enablers of teaching and learning. Therefore, Council appeals to the entire relevant security cluster in government to combine all its resources in bringing the perpetrator to book. This is important for the deceased educator’s family, school, community, and Council.  The safety and security of educators is important to us because their constitutional right to life matter.

SACE will be visiting the school and family for support. May the soul of our beloved educator rest in peace and power. Her contribution in the teaching profession and legacy will continue to be recognised.

Issued by the South African Council for Educators (SACE) :Office of the Chief Executive
