SACE CONGRATULATES EDUCATORS ON THEIR HARDWORK
The South African Council for Educators (SACE) congratulates all the learners, educators, parents and officials of the department of Education on the success achieved during the 2009 Matric Examinations. The Council expresses its appreciation for the hard work that all concerned have put in ensuring that Nations future, who are the learners achieve and keep their dreams of contributing positively to the development of their country.
The Council wishes also to raise its concern about the drop in the pass rate in a number of Provinces and wishes to put on record that each and every one involved in education needs to take full responsibility of this unfortunate situation.
We are also greatly concerned about the irregularities that surfaced in Mpumalanga and as a Council we shall also be instituting our own investigations in relation to any educator who is suspected to being involved in this scam and swift disciplinary action would be taken. We strongly condemn this behavior which puts the future of the nation at risk.
We congratulate the Minister of Basic Education and entire Department and Umalusi for the job well done in managing this crisis relating to Mpumalanga. We are looking forward to the outcome of the investigation team currently in Mpumalanga.
Finally the Council is looking forward to work with the new established Teacher Development Unit as the Minister stated in her speech this morning and as SACE will ensure that teachers receive their professional development.
